Bond Roussel, Geneviève
Geneviève Bond Roussel is a native of Quebec, where she still studies and works. Actually student at the Faculty of Law of University of Montreal, she will finish her bachelor in December 2011. She is also Project Manager at the legal clinic Clinique juridique Juripop to produce legal documents in plain language. It is her way of contributing to accessibility of justice for everyone. In this work, she can combine her interest in legal research and her willingness to help her community.
In the same vein, her past social implications concern access to governmental services and citizen participation. Especially, as President of the Quebec Federation of Cegep Students, she defended the access to post-secondary education. She also promoted political and social involvement among young women through different women's organizations.
Her academic interests relate to the role of law as a tool for equality of marginalized groups in society. Actually, she’s working on this subject as intern under the direction of Professor Jean-François Gaudreault-Desbiens at the Centre de recherche en droit public (Public Law Research Center) of University of Montreal. To make the connection between theory and practice, she is also a volunteer in a law firm specialized in immigration and refugees cases.
She plans to pursue researches on these subjects in graduate studies. However, prior to that, Geneviève Bond Roussel would like to gain experience in a Canadian Common Law province.
