Hien, Amélie

Born in Burkina Faso, West Africa, Amélie Hien has been living in Canada since 1995. She obtained a Ph.D. in linguistics from the Université de Montréal, and has worked as a researcher and a professor at Laurentian University since 2005.
She is particularly interested in the impact of language and culture on the accessibility and quality of healthcare services available to Francophone immigrants living in communities where French is a minority language. Her
research interests also include the reduction of disparities in the healthcare field, studying terminology in various specialized languages, as well as
linguistic specificities and regionalisms in French-speaking countries.
