The Movement for an officially bilingual capital of Canada is a citizen initiative aiming to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Confederation by ensuring that the French and English languages have full equality of status, and that the full range of work opportunities, services and signage be provided to the public in both official languages throughout Canada's Capital.  

This idea is not a new one. This recommendation was made by the Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism on February 14, 1970, in recommendation 1, of volume 5 of its Report. By clicking on the following links, you can access the English version or the French version of the Report.
