Morgon

[Français]

These are full-bodied wines, produced on unusual terrain of crumbling rocks and schist. Deep garnet red, with aromas of crushed red berries and ripe cherries, peaches, apricots and plums, Morgon are rich, intensely-flavoured wines, and give a pleasing fullness on the palate. They realise their full potential after several years of bottle age. Winemakers often claim that they “morgonne”, meaning that there is nothing like a Morgon for soothing bad moods and grumbles ! Serve at 13°C, with rich meat dishes, game and cheese. Average annual production: 65 000 hl Average number of bottles: 8,7 million Area under vine: 1100 hectares Soil type: loose granite and schist
