Marie Nardella is a retired filmmaker and a dog lover. She was fortunate to work hands-on as a makeup artist department head and personal artist with famous actors during her 35-year film career. She now spends her time with the canines in her neighbourhood, who are her real stars!

Since 2015, she enjoys a safe retirement in Long Branch, in southwest Toronto. She chose to live in that area because of the proximity of Lake Ontario, the beautiful natural surroundings, and the calm atmosphere that makes us feel far away from the city, especially in Summer.

As part of her community involvement, Marie Nardella wrote the following email on the Lake Promenade Co-Tenancy Project.

To Councillor Amber Morley:

Since April 17, 2023, the residential character of Long Branch is under an existential threat from the Lake Promenade Co-Tenancy who wants to quadruple the density of their property by building 30 levels condominiums.

It seems our community risk to be subjected to what could be a cruel and unusual treatment.

We urgently need strategic information and documentation. As you are our representative on City Council, I ask your office to provide us answers to the following questions:

a. If the Applicant is authorized to renovate the five buildings, what would be the Applicant’s estimate of the minimum time he would need for the renovations and approximately how many trucks would be needed for those renovations.

b. If the Applicant is authorized to demolish and rebuilt the five buildings at the actual height of seven levels, what would be the Applicant’s estimate of the minimum time he would need for the renovations and approximately how many trucks would be needed to demolish and rebuilt the five buildings.

c. If the Applicant is authorized, as he plans, to demolish and built buildings up to thirty levels, what would be the Applicant’s estimate of the minimum time he would need for the renovations and approximately how many trucks would be needed to demolish and rebuilt as he plans.

I would also appreciate to receive the estimates of City planners for each of the above questions or their comment on the answers of the Applicant.

I hope to hear from you.

Yours sincerely,

Marie Nardella
