Larocque, François
[Français]
François Larocque joined Power Law in 2014. He has been an associate professor at the Common Law Section of the Faculty of Law of the University of Ottawa since 2005.
His legal practice and research focus on language rights, civil liability, private and public international law and human rights. He has substantial experience with appellate advocacy, including applications seeking leave to appeal or to intervene before the court, the drafting of factums, the presentation of applications and interventions.
He has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, the Divisional Court of Ontario, the Superior Court of Ontario, the Court of Appeal of Quebec, the Quebec Superior Court and the Court of Appeal of Alberta.
He completed his doctorate at the University of Cambridge (Trinity College); his thesis examined the adjudicative jurisdiction of national courts in civil proceedings for serious violations of international law and human rights.
He clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada with the Honourable Justice Louise Arbour and at the Court of Appeal for Ontario with the Honourable Justices Louise Charron, Jean-Marc Labrosse, Stephen Goudge and Stephen Borins.
