National Judicial Institute (NJI)

Established in 1988, the National Judicial Institute (NJI) is an independent, non-profit organization that serves the Canadian judiciary, by planning, coordinating and delivering judicial education dealing with the law, the craft of judging and social context. The NJI, in collaboration with judges and academics, has created a library of Electronic Bench Books (EBBs). Each EBB generally consists of short summaries of the law, checklists, access to relevant legislation and cases, as well as access to papers and other electronic rerources. . The following is a list of available EBBs: - Bench Book for Sitting Judges: Self-represented Litigants and Self-represented Accused - Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) - Language Rights of the Accused - Evidence - The DNA Databank Handbook - The Mentally Disordered Offender - Child Witnesses - Family Law: Ontario (Superior Court of Justice, Ontario).
