Language of the accused: the issue of judicial transcripts in Alberta
[Français]
At the October 25, 2012 meeting of the Standing Committee on Official Languages of the House of Commons, Yvon Godin raised the issue resulting from the Province of Alberta directions for the preparation of judicial transcripts. These do not allow for French language hearings and whatever is being said in French can be absent of the transcript. See, as an example, the transcript of the criminal case R. v. Castonguay.
