Municipal corruption in Lamont (Alberta)

On September 16, 2008, representatives of Jabneel meet the mayor and the councillors of Lamont to inform them on the situation.
On December 11, 2008, Gilles Filiatreault, president of Jabneel Construction Inc. and Jabneel Development Inc., files a complaint with the RCMP against Tom Miller who, then, is the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Town of Lamont. It is alledged that the CAO is asking bribes from land developers who deal with the town.
On January 6, 2009, lawyer Denis Noël sends a letter to the RCMP.
On June 29, 2010, Jabneel sues the Town of Lamont and Tom Miller.
On September 3, 2010, a joint statement of defence for the Town and for Miller is filed.
However, on November 17, 2011, the Council of Lamont unanimously requests an inspection of the Town of Lamont be performed with regards to any matters connected with the management, administration and operations immediately and, on December 7, 2011, Tom Miller is fired .

On December 17, 2012, the Lamont Leader publishes Q & A with Jabneel Development Inc.'s Gilles Filiatreault about lawsuit against Town of Lamont and former CAO.
On December 19, 2012, The Sturgeon Creek Post publishes Town of Lamont bribery scandal.
On May 28, 2013, Radio-Canada broadcasts Arrestation de l'ex-directeur de Lamont, Tom Miller, CBC broadcasts Former Lamont town official arrested and the Huffington Post Alberta broadcasts Former Alberta Town Official Arrested In Corruption Case.
