Sylvie Paradis has been working in the Canadian public service for more than 25 years. Sylvie is an accomplished manager with extensive experience in the fields of official languages, human resources and managing grants and contributions programs. She gained this expertise by working in various departments in the National Capital Region, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Ontario.

Sylvie’s devotion to promoting official languages has been recognized on many occasions over the course of her career, including in 2007 with the Health Canada Award of Excellence in Official Languages for her work in promoting the official languages and bilingualism in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. In 2011, she received the Canadian Heritage, Regional Director General’s Award for her work in developing strategic partnerships with key partners and in creating an interdepartmental official languages network for Ontario.

 

Sylvie has also distinguished herself through her innovative and transparent leadership in human resources management, and in 2015, she received the Canadian Heritage’s People Management Award.  

Sylvie studied human resources management at the Université du Québec en Outaouais. She is the mother of two boys and has two grandchildren. She shares her life with her husband of more than 25 years.

Sylvie has a creative side. In her spare time, she makes greeting cards using stamps and designer paper.
