Gaignard, Lynda

Since 2001, Lynda Gaignard conducts investigations and mediations for the Law Society of Upper Canada, Professional Regulation Department. As a Bilingual Regulation Officer for the Law Society, she has had the privilege to gain first hand knowledge of the impact the lack of French Language Services in our courts has on people’s lives as well as in the communities. This experience gave rise to her passion to do justice. As a result, she is recognized as an ambassador for the Law Society of Upper Canada to outside group in relations to access to justice issues in French. She is a member of the Society of Ontario Adjudicators and Regulators (SOAR), l’Association des juristes d’expression française (AJEFO) as well as an active member and case reviewer for the Association in Defence for the Wrongly Convicted (AIDWYC). Prior to joining the Law Society of Upper Canada, she was Bilingual Litigation Law Clerk and Paralegal to Senior Counsel and the Director of the Attorney General – Crown Law Office Civil. She studied psychology at Bishop University in Lennoxville, Quebec (1990). She is certified in Alternative Dispute Resolution since 2000 and holds a Paralegal Diploma since 1999. She is also certified in Kinesic interviewing techniques since 2004. Lynda Gaignard is a long time participant in Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses conducted by the Law Society of Upper Canada and in administrative law education provided by SOAR. She is committed to improving and strengthening our constitutional guarantee of equality in our judiciary and will continue to devote her time to help ensure our guarantees under the Charter.
